Do I need any experience for the Kayaking Courses in Ontario?

No prior kayaking experience is necessary for many of our Ontario courses. We offer beginner-level Paddle Canada certifications, including basic skills and an introduction to sea kayaking. If you’re a complete novice, we provide pre-trip preparation and safety instruction to get you started.

What certification will I receive upon completing a kayaking course?

Horizons Adventures partners with Paddle Canada. Courses like Basic Kayaking, Level 1, Level 2, etc., are nationally recognized. Once you meet prerequisites and complete course requirements, you receive the corresponding Paddle Canada certification

How long are the Sea Kayaking Tours in Canada and what skill level is required?

Accepted Answer

Tours range from short day-trips to multi-day wilderness expeditions. Skill requirements vary by trip: some are novice-friendly with little or no prior experience and include training; others, especially multi-day trips with challenging conditions, require previous kayaking/tripping experience and possibly self-rescue skills.

Is all equipment provided or do I need to bring my own kayak?

For many of the tours and courses, Horizons Adventures provides kayaking gear (kayaks, paddles, safety equipment). However, for more advanced trips or levels, you may be required to bring your own kayak—a feature which can reduce costs. Always check the trip description in advance.

What safety and support can I expect on these kayaking tours in Canada?

Accepted Answer

All trips are led by certified instructors/guides. Safety measures include pre-trip briefings, required medical forms and waivers, orientation, and certified equipment. Small groups (about 6-8 participants) ensure personal attention. Guides are trained in Wilderness First Aid and other relevant safety protocols.

How do I register and what are the cancellation/deposit policies for Kayaking Courses in Ontario?

Registration is done via the Horizons Adventures website under each program listing. Usually a non-refundable deposit (for example, 30%) is required when enrolling. Full payment deadlines and cancellation policies are specified per program. Early Bird pricing may also apply.
